BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:-//wp-events-plugin.com//7.2.3.1//EN TZID:Europe/London X-WR-TIMEZONE:Europe/London BEGIN:VEVENT UID:461@sh4.org.uk DTSTART;TZID=Europe/London:20230830T193000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/London:20230830T230000 DTSTAMP:20230907T073658Z URL:https://www.sh4.org.uk/events/hash-1423/ SUMMARY:South Hams H4 Hash 1425 - Plym Bridge Car Park (Plympton side) DESCRIPTION:The words according to Traffic Jam\nHash No. 1425 - Plympton Na tional Trust Car Park - Hare - Gaffer\nRA -\n\nHuge apology to Traffic she beavered away getting the words done and emailed to me the next day\, I r ead them and promptly forgot about them until she reminded me at the next Hash!........oops Editor\n\nStand In Words Editor - Rubbery until next AGP U - volunteers welcome.....\n\nSH4 were on an “away day”!\nWe were lit erally “on the edge”.\nYou see\, the River Plym forms the border betwe en the South Hams &\; Plymouth …. we should have brought passports fo r hashing on the right bank\, but the left bank was on home ground.\n\nLuc kily\, Plympton H3 were out in force\, and with the Hare … Gaffer … su rely we would be in safe hands??\nApparently not!\nGaffer made huge effort s to convince Hashers not to do the longs.\nYou need to be very brave.\nDo n’t go there if you’re a scaredy-cat.\nNo! “Don’t do it!”\nWhat happened? ……. at least three-quarters of Hashers set off on the “lon g”!!!\nNo panic … there were repeated opportunities to slip back onto the short trail.\n\nThe trail was superbly well marked\, with ridiculously steep and unstable slopes\, and ……. why did Gaffer not give a health warning for the “shorts” as well?\nThe riverbank had hole after hole a fter hole\, lying in wait to catch your ankle and toss you into the fast f lowing waters.\n\nDid anyone fall in??\nNo worries ….. we all had an opp ortunity to get wet as we tiptoed along the top of the weir\, Gaffer atten tively giving encouragement and sometimes offering a helping hand.\nA seco nd time he led the tail-enders across the water\, this time in the dark wi th head torches glowing.\nWhen asked if he was looking after those crazy “longs” as well\, he replied that they could look after themselves … after all\, it was only an eight metre drop off the cliff!\nTo be fair\, there had been no cries for help\, and no sound of the Air Ambulance.\nNo cries for help\, but certainly there were screams of delight as Olive\, an d Ching Chang\, Winnie and Rizzo took a dip in the deep water crossing.\nF or Blown Off\, it wasn’t deep enough.\nAccident prone Blue Nun ended up with a gash on his leg … hope he recovers in time for laying next week ’s Hash.\n\nLucky for Goolie\, the On Downs were at a Wetherspoons! wher e he worked the floor\, gathering information and writing totally illegibl e notes for the OnDowns.\nHe couldn’t read them himself (awaiting a cata ract op) and neither could I\, despite a new pair of specs.\nThere was a n aming for Jackie ….
