SUMMARY:South Hams H4 Hash 1484 - The Creek's End - Kingsbridge
DESCRIPTION:If you would like to order food\, please do so before the circl
e up. Orders need to be placed by 8pm\nThe Words according to GOMEZ\n🌟
Scroll down to the end of this email for details of upcoming SH4 events\,
incl. the RAMBO SALCOMBE MARATHON on 21st September 🌟\n👣\nHash 1484
 - KINGSBRIDGE\n\nHmm... Been dodging the hash for the last few weeks\, sus
pecting that I would get 'volunteered' for the Words (Ed. selfless of the
assembled to deliver on that suspicion for you). Thing is\, what excuse to
give? Previous weeks included bad weather\, too far to go\, same location
s etc. None seemed to apply this week: lovely weather\, not been there for
a while\, and virtually on my doorstep. Decided to go\; strategy of layin
g low and hiding has worked before\, why not again?\n\nWell\, it appears t
hat all things catch up with you eventually\, and I was espied by the tall
lady who is Rizzo. No escape\, despite my protests that I wasn't really t
here (or all there). I could have been a hologram! Still\, I thought\, it
won't be too bad - and I will always have the RA's notes (more on that dis
aster later).\n\nAnyway\, back to the Circle Up: A very good turnout\, inc
luding some that I hadn't seen for a long while\, most noticeably Good Hea
d and Debriefed. Welcome back\, you two - or was that your bi-annual visit
? Two back\, two gone: Going Down and Piddler have now left these shores f
or sunnier climes in Spain\, and we wish them every success and happiness
in their golden years.\n\nIt transpired that there were many Hares\, chief
 (s) among them being Nice Buns\, Rizzo and Pimples. They were aided and ab
etted by Muckspreader and many progeny\, their names escaping my ageing me
mory! There were a lot of children (school holidays) and a good assortment
of dogs\, too\, with GHR and Come Tonight bringing their lovely Goldie\,
and even a spare! Didn't see Ging Gang and Goolie\, but they arrived late
as usual - apparently got lost on the way\, but still found their way to t
he pub afterwards. Rubbery took some hash pics of the motley assembly\, an
d we were off.\n\nMorticia and I are walking wounded at the moment\, and s
et off at a comfortable pace\, along with Cowpat and Nokkers - much to the
disapproval of Zoë. We must have been slow because\, ahead of us\, I cou
ld see Dulux\, Filth\, Nutcracker\, Know Nuts and Twisted Sister. Only Laz
y Git and Squashed Balls were behind us\, but that's nothing new.\n\nUp th
rough the houses we went\, across the old railway bridge and into the coun
tryside. This is where it went wrong for Muckspreader. He got lost\, appar
ently\, despite being one of the Hares! Up to the main road\, where we fou
nd Nice Buns and Rizzo retraining as Lollipop Ladies\, seeing the old folk
safely across the road. Being at the back\, and also walking the Short\,
I didn't see any of the 'Longs'\, but without an appearance by Re-Entry it
left the way clear for Overshot to make a bid for victory. Stiff competit
ion though\, with Blown Off\, Undercovers\, Over Exposed and Bit O' Ruff i
 n the mix. (No\, you don't count Wet Spot!) Shaggy\, Winnie-the-Pooh and F
lage do\, but they are Ladies (Ed. Scribe's capitalisation - just saying..
.) who don't partake in common competition (Ed. such flattery! Or else [en
dearing] delusion... 😘) .\n\nBack in Kingsbridge\, there was an upmarke
t beer stop by the Fire Station. A bevy of young beauties (also Hares\, I
believe) welcomed us and lured us in with exotic drinks. It was a shame to
leave\, but needs must\, and we got back to base.\n\nThere at the On Down
\, I learnt - to my horror - that the RA was Olive. Bugger\, I thought: th
ere goes my early night! And so it proved. To be honest\, she lost me for
a while in her pre-hash ramblings. National days for this and that\, or so
mething. I found myself looking around at some bemused and glassy-eyed fac
es: Lactaster\, Dirty Nights and She's Ready to name a few. Even WGAS was
quiet. (Ed. if only there was some other [maybe speedier...?] way of harne
ssing this super-power...) Dragging myself back to reality\, I found Olive
had moved on to actually mentioning the Hash. Roars of approval all round
!\n\nNice Tackle was mentioned\, although I can't recall why. So was the I
talian Stallion (several times!)\, so perhaps she just likes the names (Ed
 . yes\, I mean I can't imagine any other explanation...😆) . Apparently\
, Spotty Botty was seen rearranging her bra and contents in the car park\,
but I'm inclined to think that this was a hasher's fantasy\, as she had F
latface with her\, and would (surely) act unusually demurely (?). Can't Co
me had no belt and couldn't keep his trousers up\, but this could have bee
n another of Olive's fantasies.\n\nOvershot had booked an appointment in K
ingsbridge in the afternoon\, specifically designed so that he could recce
the trail and get a head start. This news was greeted with universal crie
s of 'Shame' (Ed. entirely appropriately). We proceeded to sing a rapturou
s rendition of 'Happy Birthday' to Barbarella. No virgins or T-shirts this
week\, and it was on to the Down Downs.\n\nThere appeared to be many\, ma
ny drinks (Ed. a fair number were half-pints of water\, though\, so I'm pr
etty sure Pre- and Post-Christmas budgets are safe... 😅)\, so when Oliv
e decided to give none to the Hares I got confused and tried to remember w
ho got them. I got Olive's notes afterwards\, but they may as well have be
en in hieroglyphics: they come a close second to Squashed Balls' apple or
banana!\n\nI think Down Downs went to :\n\nSome Hares? (Pimples\, Nice Bun
s\, Rizzo and assorted offspring)\nGing Gang - something about Sheila's Is
land (who knows!)\nFilth - drinking too much red wine (is there such a thi
ng?) (Ed. No)\nMarty - for running with her dog\, Mabel (who is quicker th
an many hashers!)\nBarbarella - for her Birthday\nOvershot - for not being
an Italian Stallion (Ed. no mention of clandestine pre-hash trail-recce-i
ng\, then?)\nShaggy - (for not being an FBI\, actually ['First Bitch In' -
questionable hash-related provenance...]. Or some other reason.)\nItalian
Stallion - for being Olive's principal fantasy (He's been renamed HobNob)
\nWet Spot - for being Wet Spot (Ed. Awww!)\n\nAt last\, it was finished.
Thanks to the Hares for a great hash. The pub was thanked and\, for those
who hadn't jumped into the estuary to escape\, it was ON ON to sunny (or n
ot) Cornwood.\n\nGOMEZ\n\nP.S. Most of you reading this will find it hard
to believe but\, 25 years ago\, Morticia and I wrote the words every week\
, printed 50 copies and handed them out at the next Hash. Times change eh?
(Ed. Cripes. Although it almost sounds as though you miss the role... Alm
ost as though you might be volunteering to be re-appointed to the position
  of Permanent SH4 Scribe...? Say no more\, G: I'll draft the petition...)\
