Another week\, another stellar turn by an apparently-reluctant Scribe who\ , it transpires\, was in fact just poised to unleash a serving of brillia nt badinage about hash goings-on for your entertainment. Pure poetry. (And another week of brazen idleness for your Editor. I mean\, what is even th e point of me...? [*Sinks into a pit of existential despond*])\n\nThere ar e some cruel words spake in reference to my 'over-friendly' parking style (in my defence\, I've already shifted to South Hams-beach-parking setting s for the season...I panicked in the face of such spacious field-parking arrangements!). BUT\, all that is forgiven for such a delightfully dramat ic doggy-love dilemma\, ingenious rhyming description of SH4's flour-blin dness\, and saucy details of the Red Dress run. Nice one\, Nice Buns!   😆\n\nHASH 1537 - STANCOMBE (SHERFORD)\nI sensed my fate was creeping near—\nThis week\, alas! My time is here.\nWith Nokker’s brilliance s till aglow\,\nHow could I top last week’s grand show?\n\nWe rocked up on Stancombe’s land\,\nWith All Night Pepys in full command.\nA field to p ark in\, all vast and wide\,\nShaggy drove in and nearly did collide\nWith Half Hard’s car—so tight the gap\,\nIt almost triggered a parking mis hap.\n"Should’ve brought the can-opener\," he said\,\nAs visions of dent ed doors danced in his head.\n\nThe dogs tonight started the show\,\nWith Twitch and Kevin and the ‘Ball of snow’\nTwitch looked confused\, just stood her ground\,\nWhile fluff-ball zoomed and spun around.\nThe crowd w as split—some gasped\, some cheered\,\nAs canine speed-dating got weird. \nThen Kevin\, proud\, with chest puffed wide\,\nLeapt in to stand by Twit ch’s side.\n“For love!” he barked\, “and honour too!”\nAnd chase d the fluff right out of view.\n\nSo on to the hash\, with spirits high\,\ nThough rain had threatened from the sky.\nPepys exclaimed with mild despa ir\,\n“The rain has washed the flour from everywhere!”\n\nSo\, for wha t we thought was our fine track\nBelonged to Sunday’s Taunton pack!\nA s neaky twist\, a cruel mistake\,\nA breadcrumb trail we shouldn’t take.\n And thus the Longs\, in bold pursuit\,\nInvented their own freestyle route .\n\nThe trail\, to be fair\, was still quite good\,\nThrough nettled path s and patchy wood.\nBut none so wise—or smug\, or neat—\nAs Olive and Pugsley on their feet.\nThese two\, with grace and calm detail\,\nSomehow found the actual trail!\nThey dodged the chaos\, skipped the mess\,\nAvoid ed all the wrong-way stress.\n\nNow Gomez\, known for banter sly\,\nWas ov erheard with twinkling eye.\n“If Pugsley’s with Olive? Nah\, no way— \nHe won’t be back any time today!”\nBut then—surprise! Pugsley's in sight\,\n“Already back? That can’t be right!”\nBut Olive grinned an d took a bow—\nThe fastest pair on trail somehow!\n\nThe hash gave thank s with a great big cheer\nFor Saturday’s red dress run and all the beer. \nA grand affair\, all dressed in red—\n(With some in outfits best left unsaid!)\nBut for Rizzo\, No Bridget Jones pants on this day\,\nShe lay do wn in the road in full display.\nFlat on her back\, with style and flair —\nA traffic hazard\, lacking underwear.\n\nNext week’s adventure’s are to be found\nAt The Church House\, Churchstow and all around!\nOn On!
