Unprepared as I was\, I onl y found myself able to mumble something barely comprehensible containing the words 'recently'\, 'done' and 'thought'\, but not necessarily in that order. Anyway\, it didn’t cut any ice\, what with many hundreds [Ed.I th ink I must\, like GHR\, have circled up in the wrong place...] of onlooke rs all with a vested interest in not having this assignation overturned.\ nThe rest of the information delivered at the Circle Up was\, frankly\, a blur\, so we will just have to\nhope that it comes out in the rest of this ramble.\n\nAnyway\, onto tales of valour\, deceit\, treachery and short-c utting - or is that the book club book I am meant to be reading? [Ed. it does sound remarkably like Richard Osman's next title...] I am sure that the hares shared a lot of invaluable nuggets of information about the hash \, but I remember not a jot about them. [Ed. nothing that would actually  have prepared us for the impending trail\, as per weekly tradition.]\n\nW e set off from the square and towards the church. Talented as I am in ant icipating tricky situations\, I spotted that Know Nuts was immediately ahe ad of me at the first kissing gate. Having almost recovered my composure f rom the Circle Up\, I deftly and courteously stood back to let several has hers past me. I am happy to report that they negotiated the kissing gate s uccessfully\, as Know Nuts was too busy trying to win the hash. Know Nuts also thought he saw a trout\, or maybe an Orca\, in the River Erme\, so it \nwas probably wise to give him a wide berth… (More on that later. [Ed. but is there\, Jyde? You are such a tease: I\, along with many others I'd wager\, was primed for tales of giant-cephalopod-wrangling mid-hash...*sig h*.])\n\nUnusually for a hash\, there seemed to be a theme of being in the wrong place at the wrong time [Ed. Bah-bum tish!]. I cite the following e vidence:\n\n GHR pitched up at Pinky’s estate\, largely because he does n’t do Facebook\;\n Gaffer changed in the middle of the road and a deli very truck screeched and swerved to miss him…..Hope he is getting some h elp with the PTSD\, after seeing Gaffer undressed\;\n Viz (returning hash er) putting the wrong animals (goats and chickens) back in the wrong place s\;\n Anchorman placing his socks in the wrong place in his hashing bag\,  so he didn’t have them at hand for the hash… Blisters\, one wonders? ??\n Know Nuts tripped over\, and then got doubly cross as he had convinc ed himself\, in the face of incontrovertible evidence to the contrary\, th at the cake stop was at Pinky’s barn [Ed. unless he had a hankering for a Bundt cake crafted from hay (could also have been mistaken for a check. ..)\, I can see how Pinky's gaff may have disappointed on this front].\n Finally\, Pinky almost missed the cake stop\, so intent was he on leading the Shorts astray… And that was on his own ancestral lands!\n\nEnough of those bullet points. Random stuff now: Belinda and Lowt'arse shortcutting … Slightly unusual\, actually. Don’t know what this means\, but the no tes from my learned RA inform us that Muckspreader had a new ring\, and so mething about sheep food. We are an odd bunch of people\, aren’t we! [Ed .
