SUMMARY:South Hams H4 Hash 1566 - Fortescue Arms
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Words accordin
 g to OLIVE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Ed. Another narrow escape this week - I'm not saying the Scribe completely
forgot she had been unceremoniously dobbed in for the Words duties this
 week\, buuuuuut...she completely forgot. However\, conscientious to a fau
lt (on being reminded...)\, ChatGP-\, uh\, I mean Olive whipped up not on
e\, not two\, but THREE potential options for me to choose from - and all
  before 6am! (Alright\, over-achiever... 😂😘)\n\n🌟 👣  🌟\n
\nA quick parish notice before you settle down:\n\nOur lovely\, hard-worki
ng Hare Razer\, Lactaster\, is looking for hares to lay a tail on the foll
owing dates (some rather imminent!): \n18th February\n25th February\n4th
  March\n25th March\n8th April\n29th April\n\nIf you haven't laid a hash fo
r a while\, and think you might be able to find some time to tramp around
the beautiful South Hams with a few bags of flour for company on one of th
e above dates\, PLEASE do let Lactaster know - and save the poor thing so
me sleepless nights!!\n(Also\, if you're struggling to find an available c
o-hare\, please mention to the committee so they can try and help find yo
 u some support.)\n\n🌟 👣  🌟\n\nHash 1566 - EAST ALLINGTON\n(Ed. T
he lightest of light touches to this week's edits [just not quite the same
 \, marking machine-learning's homework...😂])\n\nIn chilly East Allingto
n\, dry for a change\,\nThe South Hams crew gathered\, wonderfully strange
.\nA couple of new folks were dragged out to play\nBy Blown Off (who insis
ts he’s modest… in his own way).\n\nOne newbie we’re sure had a dog
with a “B”—\nThe name is forgotten\, but the bark was carefree.\nThe
y claimed to be cousins\, though no one could tell\;\nOne was good-looking
 … The other? …Well.\n\nThe run started gently (a rare\, rare event)\,\
 nPerhaps age-related\, or energy spent.\nBut Pugsley\, unstoppable\, flew
with the fleet—\nHis speed surely powered by avoiding Dad’s… unique
 … technique.\n\nNow Gomez was lively\, unusually so\,\nAsking odd questi
ons no one wanted to know.\nOne hasher was startled\, confused by his chat
—\nHer memory failed her (and she’s perfectly fine with that).\n\nPugs
ley was told to cover his face—\nOr ears? Or eyes? Somewhere in that spa
ce.\nThe RA tried helping\, but honestly\, who\nCan keep track of chaos in
this merry crew?\n\nMeanwhile poor Willy Waiver\, with Muckspreader in t
he lead\,\nWas trapped in a loop of remarkable speed.\nAround a big field
he kept circling on\,\nAnd no one is sure if he’s back or just gone.\n\n
Then came the tumbles—Lowt’arse took a fall\,\nGot scraped\, got bruis
ed\, but stood proud and tall.\nA chunk from her hand\, a twist in her str
ide—\nBut she powered on bravely\, with grit and her pride.\n\nGomez\,
of course\, had commentary ready\n(Not always helpful\, not always steady)
.\nLowt’arse reached out midfall for support\,\nBut his “treasures”
(we’ll call them) were not the right sort.\n\nThey did not assist\, they
did not save the day\,\nAnd that is all that we’re going to say...\n\nS
o cheers to the runners of South Hams terrain—\nThe wild\, the bewildere
d\, the joyfully insane.\nMay your nights stay dry\, your routes stay clea
r\,\nAnd may no-one’s 'valuables' be grabbed this year...\n \nBut wait
! The night was hardly through—\nFor justice calls in Hashing too.\nThe
circle formed\, the chatter slowed\,\nAnd Down Downs proudly were bestowed
.\n\nFirst Gomez stood\, but shook his head:\n“I’m driving home!” (R
 esponsible\, he said).\nThe crowd all groaned—no drink? How tragic!\nDri
ver duty kills the magic.\n\nNext came the hares—Rusty and Overshot—\n
Praised for the trail they cleverly…forgot.\nFor every twist and mystery
bend\nA hearty Down Down they must defend.\n\nLowt’arse\, of course\, s
 tepped forward tall\nFor her glorious\, gravity-defying fall.\nShe earned
her sip with pride that night—\nA badge of honour for her flight.\n\nThe
n Cousin of BO was called\n(Dragged out\, bewildered\, but not appalled)
.\nFor joining chaos with surprising cheer\nA Down Down welcomed their fir
st Hashing year.\n\nAnd Olive too was summoned up\,\nRaising high her nobl
e cup—\nFor buddying Lowt’arse through the pain\,\nA true Hasher throu
gh sun or rain.\n\nSo cheers to the shambles\, the slips\, and the fun\,\n
To every mis-step on every run.\nIn the South Hams crew\, one thing is cle
ar—\nYou earn your Down Downs fair and square each year!\n\nTo summarise
\, down downs awarded to:\n\n\n Mr. Overshot &amp\; Rusty Bottom – har
 es\n Lowt'arse - spectacular tumble\; unexpected fumble\n Blown-Off (?)
  – rampant short-cutting (probably)\n Blown-Off's 2 x cousins – vir
gins\n Olive - hashing heroism (or saucy revelations - you decide!)\n
