Salcombe Coastal Marathon has been renamed the Rambo Salcombe Marathon and will take place on Saturday 30th September 2023 along some of South Devon’s most beautiful coastline. This is a multi-terrain event. The distance will be a approx 26 or 15 miles with significant levels of ascent. The nature of the event remains a run and a walk at the entrant’s choice. The nature of the terrain and ascent/descent makes actual distance a little academic.

This event is open to both walkers and runners and will have transport available to allow for different speeds. This is organised as an event rather than a race due to the logistics of having to stagger starts for safety on narrow sea cliff footpaths and also due to waiting for the ferry across to Salcombe. Self-timing will be in use, although we will of course publish results.  Entries are limited to approximately 100 places, for safety reasons and for transport logistics.

We will be raising money equally for two charities: South West Coast Path https://southwestcoastpath.org and Step One Charity https://www.steponecharity.co.uk which is an organisation that supports people in the community and runs BeWell courses and peer support groups. If you choose to also fundraise for either of these charities that is optional. They supported Rambo during his initial recovery.

The entry fee is £30 and we hope that a minimum of £10 per entry will go directly to the charities, any further surplus will also supplement this total. While essentially this is a self-supporting event, we will provide a water stops. At Salcombe you will have access to shops to purchase refreshments and time spent for a lunch break at Salcombe need not be included in your time. In order to pre-book transport and other logistics, entry must be in advance.

Start time will be between 8-10 am
All entrants are at running/walking self navigated and at their own risk
In the event of cancellation due to extreme weather conditions the event will be rescheduled.
As an entrant you will be responsible for ensuring you are fit and healthy enough to complete the event – there will be a cut off time at Salcombe. You are also responsible for wearing appropriate clothing and footwear to meet the conditions and the weather.
Certificates will be issued to all finishers on request, together with a momento.
Technical T-shirts of the event can be purchased in advance.
Everyone must have passed through Salcombe by 3 pm at the latest (approx 15 miles).
Minimum age of 18 years on day of event

Post Xmas Hash Trail Info February 2022

Gaffer and Triple Top have a beautiful Hash planned for you, please enjoy and show your gratitude for all the effort by plying us with booze.

There are 3 Trails, one beer stop with food and drink including water, quite a long way into the hash, if you need water or food on route carry it. The beer stop is roughly 1 mile from pub.
Take money for the pub. The Pub are laying on food, 1 pasty some are veggie, and a few chips, if you want more buy it.
There is a minibus taxi organised to get those back to the hotel that can’t walk run or crawl, it will do 4x shuttles of 16 persons the 1st shuttle at 1530 and the last at 1630. If you miss it, its a 4 mile walk!
Not all will fit on the bus. Fit guys are encouraged to crawl back, it’s all down hill.

Distances in miles To Beer To Pub Back to Hotel

Walkers 4 5 9

Shorts 7 8 12

Longs 9 10 14

Don’t run by yourselves stay with someone and carry a waterproofed phone just in case.
.
Weather is looking dry but it is still cold, I would advise taking a long sleeved warmers top or windproof you can tie around waist if not needed. You cant put it on if you haven’t got it.

Please call on if you are on trail and kick the checks, its not a race and the slower hashers are even slower if you don’t work as a team to help them.

Post Xmas Hash Bash – Action needed!

It’s been a strange year and your hash committee are optimistically planning for better times in 2021 with our annual Post Xmas Hash Bash. Feedback from last year was that most would like better facilities and were happy to pay more, Covid19 may have changed that. We’re looking at the weekend of 29/30th January at Elfordleigh Hotel, just outside Plympton https://www.elfordleigh.co.uk/. which looks lovely and we would hopefully book exclusively with enough interest.

Costings are for full use of facilities and all the usual Hash silliness; Saturday Night stay only (Gala dinner, bed and breakfast) would be £100 per member/£120 for non members. Friday & Saturday night stay (3 course set menu dinner Friday, bed & breakfast, with the gala dinner on the Saturday) £170 per member/£190 for non-members.

We’re seeking a hands up to indicate interest via a virtual circle up; (an anonymous survey). Please complete survey asap as we need to secure booking with deposit.
