Salcombe Coastal Marathon has been renamed the Rambo Salcombe Marathon and will take place on Saturday 30th September 2023 along some of South Devon’s most beautiful coastline. This is a multi-terrain event. The distance will be a approx 26 or 15 miles with significant levels of ascent. The nature of the event remains a run and a walk at the entrant’s choice. The nature of the terrain and ascent/descent makes actual distance a little academic.

This event is open to both walkers and runners and will have transport available to allow for different speeds. This is organised as an event rather than a race due to the logistics of having to stagger starts for safety on narrow sea cliff footpaths and also due to waiting for the ferry across to Salcombe. Self-timing will be in use, although we will of course publish results.  Entries are limited to approximately 100 places, for safety reasons and for transport logistics.

We will be raising money equally for two charities: South West Coast Path https://southwestcoastpath.org and Step One Charity https://www.steponecharity.co.uk which is an organisation that supports people in the community and runs BeWell courses and peer support groups. If you choose to also fundraise for either of these charities that is optional. They supported Rambo during his initial recovery.

The entry fee is £30 and we hope that a minimum of £10 per entry will go directly to the charities, any further surplus will also supplement this total. While essentially this is a self-supporting event, we will provide a water stops. At Salcombe you will have access to shops to purchase refreshments and time spent for a lunch break at Salcombe need not be included in your time. In order to pre-book transport and other logistics, entry must be in advance.

Start time will be between 8-10 am
All entrants are at running/walking self navigated and at their own risk
In the event of cancellation due to extreme weather conditions the event will be rescheduled.
As an entrant you will be responsible for ensuring you are fit and healthy enough to complete the event – there will be a cut off time at Salcombe. You are also responsible for wearing appropriate clothing and footwear to meet the conditions and the weather.
Certificates will be issued to all finishers on request, together with a momento.
Technical T-shirts of the event can be purchased in advance.
Everyone must have passed through Salcombe by 3 pm at the latest (approx 15 miles).
Minimum age of 18 years on day of event
