Hash 1586 – CORNWORTHY

The words according to St. Jools… (Dirty Bum Bum)

A fine gathering outside The Hunters Lodge Inn, Tuckenhay, with a pre-hash rendition of Happy Birthday to Know Nuts. (There was concern that Know Nuts & Overshot were secret “Birth Twins”…!) (Ed. I know: the resemblance is uncanny. I can’t believe this hasn’t been remarked on before…) This, however, may well lead to a new pre-hash tradition of fine song at the Hash gathering?? (Mainly for the sake of the poor folk at the pubs that have to suffer our howling.)

Dirty Bum Bum was mortified and terrified about her lack of secretarial/wordsmithing capabilities, so was admirably coached by Doggy Style, who gave hints, tips and fodder along the route.

Vindaloo was noted as saying “I hope it’s this way, as it’s very pretty. On On!” Closely followed by Oui Oui declaring “we all got a prick in the field!!”… What? (Ed. And there it is: textbook hash ‘wordsmithery’…!)

WGAS looked like he was just popping to (Ed. or from…?) the Co-op for a pint of milk-trotting along with a carton of milk in his hand?? (Ed. flour-dispenser of choice for many a hare)

The ‘Short’ route led down and down and down to Tuckenhay Mill with lovely looking swimming pools and some very pretty gardens…when Yeuck was spotted running her fastest pace ever, as she had a tip-off from WGAS that a beer stop was hiding just around the corner. (Ed. the motivational fillip of champions!) After a Bailey’s, cider and sweeties (Thanks, Legs Eleven, & Harry) we were off for an assault course by the river… Know Nuts was heard crying for help from behind a bush; Cow Pat was scrambling out of a ditch; Oui Oui’s knickers got caught in barbed wire; Vindaloo got stuck straddling a tree, and Dirty Bum Bum was wading across the river! Chaos and carnage! (Ed. ahh, hash nirvana 😊)

‘Sarah‘ noticed a check and fell about laughing… (Sarah has not, in fact, been named yet… Suggestions welcomed!!)

Whilst us Shorts were battling up a rather large hill from the river, we heard some grunting and groaning behind us, only to find Gaffer taking a SHORT CUT… We obviously harassed him mercilessly – but he has no shame: he tried to convince us it was in TRUE HASH tradition!!?? (Ed. well, it’s a true Gaffer tradition – arguably pretty much the same thing…)

I found it hilarious that Rubbery and myself were both tickled enough to actually photograph a cow pat…with flour topping!!!… Dish of the day….(talking cow pat with flour topping here, not Rubbery!! [Ed. Shame. “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s floury cowpat…?” has such a poetry to it…])

Mr Overshot, back at the pub entertained us with his very astute summary of the antics of the Hash. His opening words caused amusement observing that, “No wonder they didn’t want to sweep the Longs… they didn’t want to climb those bloody hills again!” Then criticised the plethora of pointless checks…the first five all leading straight on?? Then commenting that Shaggy was so annoyed she knocked the footpath sign over… which got a round of applause! (I believe she is doing community service for this show of rage..Tut Tut Shaggy [Ed. There you go, believing everything the RA says again…🙄😆])

He congratulated Gomez for his sharp eyesight in spotting the ‘Mark on the left’!!!! He pointed out that Fob Jockey had coughed himself round the complete course, and on return had celebrated by having a fag outside the pub!!

Overshot’s keen eyes had also observed Twisted Sister swigging back champagne in her car….allowed, as it was her birthday! But she now holds the title of Official Drug Dealer ! I actually could do with a drink as I think I now I’m going to officially close these mutterings from Dirty Bum Bum… I am actually more exhausted than if I had just completed ‘The Long’, blindfolded, handcuffed and with my legs tied together…!! (Ed. Sounds a little racier than what we’re used to on a SH4 hash, but who are we to judge: you do you, DBB… 😉)

• Gomez.. finding the ‘Left’ mark
• Keeps Tripping… Birthday Booze
• Fob Jockey..  cough of the Day
• Legs Eleven… Best Beer Stop

P.S. I noticed that Rizzo, followed very closely by Legs Eleven (have they been practising together?) totally whooped the rest of the competition… Proud of you girls X
